Schooling from South Indian Education Society High School. Earned a B.Com, an LL.B, and an M.A. in History from the University of Mumbai. It was here that he laid a strong academic foundation, which he later built upon by completing a Ph.D. from the Manipal Academy of Higher Education.
He was introduced to the RSS Shakha when he was just four years old, though he became actively involved during his teenage years. As a young Mukhya-Shikshak, he led a Shakha primarily attended by daily wage workers from Kerala. During this period, he also became involved in labour union activities under the leadership of prominent CPM figure Ahilya Rangnekar. This experience brought him into close contact with both Rangnekar and veteran communist leader B. T. Ranadive, with whom he often engaged in thoughtful political and ideological debates.
From 1992 to 2004, Seshadri Chari served as the editor of Organiser, the official mouthpiece of the RSS. During his tenure, he played a key role in strengthening and promoting the organization’s ideology and policies on a national platform. He earned a reputation as a disciplined and committed leader, deeply dedicated to the organization’s principles.
Chari is fluent in Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, and English, and is especially known for his expertise in foreign policy matters. It is due to his deep-rooted association with the RSS and his extensive expertise in foreign affairs that Seshadri Chari's name is being widely discussed as a potential candidate for the post of Vice President of the country. He is also being seen as a strong contender for the position of the next BJP President.

As per several media reports, Seshadri Chari sparked controversy in 2021 during an event in Jaipur when he made a statement regarding the partition of India. He suggested that the division could have been avoided if Muhammad Ali Jinnah had been offered the position of the first Prime Minister of undivided India.
Referring to Jinnah’s deteriorating health at the time, he was suffering from tuberculosis Chari remarked, "Even if Jinnah had been made Prime Minister on August 15, 1947, we could have prayed to God for his long life, but the fact is he wouldn't have lived long. The British already knew he was a TB patient and unlikely to survive even a year."
He went on to say that, unfortunately, Indian leaders of that era failed to consider this possibility. According to Chari, had such an offer been made, it might have prevented the partition. "It’s a separate matter who would have become Prime Minister after Jinnah," he added, "but at least the country might not have been divided."
