Satish Poonia Early Life

Born to Late Sh Subhah Chandra Poonia & Smt Parmeshwari Devi in Rajgarh , Churu, Poonia did his early education in Rajgarh and then completed his further school studies in Churu. He pursued higher education from University of Rajasthan and took admission in state’s prestigious Maharaja College in Jaipur. Since the young age, Poonia was inclined towards social cause and was popular among his peers.

Poonia is married to Mohini Poonia. The couple have a son Maheep Poonia & a daughter Anushka Poonia. He is related to noted freedom fighter Ramswaroop Poonia who worked in tandem with Choudhary Kumbharam Arya.

Satish Poonia Political Career

Since his early life, he was inclined to the ideology of RSS and joined ABVP in 1982. As a student leader he held several positions in ABVP and was also active in Rajasthan university students union politics. When the nation was rocked by alleged scandal of bofors gun during late 80s , Poonia led the student agitation in university as General Secretary of RUSU. In 2000, Poonia contested the assembly by election in Sadulpur seat. He lost by a big margin. He then shifted his electoral politics to Amber ( Jaipur) and lost the assembly election in 2013. However, he was steadfast and continued working in Amber which rewarded him with a win in 2018. However, Poonia was not able to continue his winning streak and lost in 2023 assembly elections.
