Bhupender Yadav was born on 30 June 1969 in Ajmer, Rajasthan, to Kadam Singh and Santra Devi Yadav. He completed his schooling at St. Paul’s Senior Secondary School, Ajmer, and went on to earn a B.A. (Hons.) and an LL.B. from Government College, Ajmer.
Early on, he displayed leadership skills, actively participating in student politics and eventually rising to serve as general secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad (a lawyers’ association) from 2000 to 2009 .
Bhupender Yadav began his senior political journey in 2010 when he was appointed as the National Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Four years later, in 2014, he was elevated to the role of National General Secretary, reflecting his growing influence within the party.
He played a crucial role in shaping the BJP’s election strategies across several key states. He served as co-in-charge for the Rajasthan Assembly elections in 2013 and the Jharkhand elections in 2014. Additionally, he was appointed as the party’s in-charge for Gujarat.
In the lead-up to the 2013 Rajasthan Assembly elections, Bhupender Yadav played a central role as the BJP’s chief strategist for the state. He was given the crucial responsibility of overseeing the Suraaj Sankalp Yatra, led by Vasundhara Raje. Yadav managed key aspects of the campaign, including planning the travel route, coordinating events, and handling overall logistics to ensure the yatra ran smoothly and reached its intended political impact.
Yadav also held significant responsibilities during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and was the BJP's in-charge for the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, both of which were major victories for the party.
Currently, Bhupender Yadav represents the Alwar constituency in the Lok Sabha and serves as a Union Cabinet Minister in the Modi government. Prior to this, he was a member of the Rajya Sabha, first elected in 2012 and re-elected for a second term in April 2018.
In his election affidavit, Bhupender Yadav declared that he holds Rs 69,000 in cash, while his wife Babita Yadav has Rs 55,000. He has a total of Rs 10.82 lakh deposited across four bank accounts, whereas Babita’s bank accounts hold Rs 23.37 lakh as per a news report.
