Pawan Kalyan is an Indian Politician and renowned actor, currently serving as the tenth Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh since 12 June 2024. He is also Minister of Panchayati Raj, Rural development, Rural water supply, environment, Forest, and Science and Technology in the Government of Andhra Pradesh.


Being a renowned Telugu actor, Kalyan is known for his impeccable acting talent and skills. In 2008, he entered politics as the Youth wing president of his brother Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party, which also led to the foundation of Jana Sena Party. He is widely referred to as Power Star by his fans and in the media.

Pawan completed his education from one of the prestigious St. Joseph’s High School in Nellore. Besides this, he also made a remarkable presence in the field of public martial arts and entitled as ‘Pawan.’ Besides this, he has a black belt in Karate. Pawan Kalyan Early Life Kalyan was born as Konidela Kalyan Babu on 2 September 1968, in Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh.


He was born to Konidela Venkata Rao, and Anjana Devi. Kalyan is the youngest in his family after his eldest brothers; Nagendra Babu, and Chiranjeevi. He named himself ‘Pawan,’ after participating in a martial arts exhibition to represent his skills and knowledge. He has always been a talented actor and a politician.


After his first divorce, Pawan married Renu Desai and gave birth to their daughter; Aadhya. In March 2004, Pawan Kalyan initiated to form Jana Sena Party in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Pawan Kalyan married Nandini in 2001 after his film debut. They have a son, named Akira Nandan, born in 2004. In 2009, after eight years of companionship, Kalyan married Renu Desai and their daughter Aadya was born in 2010. They both parted their ways officially in 2012 with a mutual agreement. After the separation, Kalyan married his third wife, Anna Lezhneva, a Russian citizen in 2013 in Hyderabad.


They have a daughter Polena Anjana Pawanova and a son Mark Shankar Pawanovich. Pawan Kalyan Political Career Kalyan started his political career in the year 2008 as the president of Praja Rajyam Party led by his elder brother Chiranjeevi. After this political party merged with Congress Party, Kalyan took a break from the political career in 2011.


After a long break for three-years, Kalyan launched a new political party called Jana Sena Party on 14 March 2014. After that, he also forged alliance with Bhartiya Janta Party and took active participation in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Kalyan is known to be the power star in the cinemas and politics.


He actively contributed towards the upliftment of society by leading a protest march to protect farmers who committed suicide or migrated from the draught-prone regions of Rayalaseema. In 2019, Kalyan announced an election manifesto at Rajahmundry public meeting with many measures to improve the lives of the youth, people, farm labors and students. Besides this, he also contested 140 constituencies in the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Elections.

In 2014, Kalyan led his political party Jana Sena and campaigned in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka in support of BJP and TDP in the general and assembly elections. On 2 May 2018, Kalyan announced to contest all 175 assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh during the 2019 assembly elections. In 2019, Pawan Kalyan announced to form alliance with Bhartiya Janata Party in Andhra Pradesh.


On 14 September 2023, Kalyan announced an open fight between JSP and TDP in 2024 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Elections. On 12 June 2024, Kalyan, chief of the Jana Sena Party was appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and MLA of Pithapuram.

Actor-turned-politician and Jana Sena Party President Konidela Pawan Kalyan was appointed as Deputy chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on 12 June 2024. Kalyan started his career journey as an actor but gradually transformed his role and devoted being a politician and founder of Jana Sena Pary in 2014. He is also serving as the minister of Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, Rural Water Supply, Forest, Environment, Science & Technology in the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Pawan started his acting career in 1966 by making debut in the film Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi, which was followed by the next film Gokulamlo Seeta in the same year. After his debut films, he appeared in Tholi Prema in 1999, directed by A. Karunakaran. This was followed by Thammudu, playing the role of the kick boxer.


On 20 April 2000, he acted in Puri Jagannadh’s first directional venture, Badri. In 2001, he gave tremendous performance in the film Kushi. Kalyan also directed and wrote the film Johnny on 26 April 2003. In 2004, his movie Gudumba Shankar was released. In 2005, Kalyan gave an impeccable performance in the film Balu, directed by A. Karunakaran. In 2006, Bangaram directed by Tamil Director Dharani was released.


In the year 2008, Kalyan performed as an actor in the films like Jalsa, Puli, and Jesus Christ. In 2011, Kalyan also appeared in Teen Maar, which is a popular remake of a Bollywood movie Love Aaj Kal. In 2012, he also appeared in the film Gabbar Singh, which is quite popular as the remake of Dabangg movie. In 2013, he appeared in the film Attarintiki Daredi.


In 2014, Kalyan titled as one of the top 5 heroes of India as per the reviews of Star India Survey. In 2015, he appeared in Gopala Gopala, which a quite popular remake of Oh My God! In 2017, Kalyan collaborated with Kishore Kumar Pardasani for a remake of Veeram, Katamarayudu. In 2018, he appeared in the film by Agnyaathavaasi which was directed by Trivikram Srinivas. He made a comeback in 2021 by appearing in the film Vakeel Saab, directed by Venu Sriram.
