Vijay early life

Popularly known as Thalapathy, Vijay's filmi career started early. At the age of 10, Vijay made his debut as a child actor in the Tamil film Vetri. After appearing in several films as a child actor, Vijay played the lead hero in his father’s action drama, Naalaiya Theerpu. Although the film did not perform well at the box office, it marked the beginning of his journey as a leading actor in Tamil cinema. Over the years, Vijay gradually built a strong fan base with his charismatic screen presence, versatile acting skills, and memorable performances in a variety of roles, eventually becoming one of the most prominent and bankable stars in the South Indian film industry.


Vijay Political Career

Vijay gained massive fan following and achieved the status of megastar in Tamil cinema had first brush with politics in the state assembly election of 2011.

In 2009, his fan club Vijay Makkal Iyakkam was launched and his forum actively supported Jayalalitha led AIADMK in the 2011 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. In the month of March in 2011, his father S A Chandrasekhar met Jaylalitha and extended support to her.

It can be said that in a way Makkal Iyakkam proved to be a stepping stone for the further political journey Vijay.

With the formation of TVK in February 2024, he formally joined politics. Making official announcement via social media post he had written that It was his long-term intention and desire to help the people of Tamil Nadu and the Tamil community, who gave him name, fame and everything after his parents, as much as he can.

The party had cleared that it had no intention of contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha polls which means that TVK aims to fight the 2026 election with all seriousness. It is said that his party may attain the status of main competitor to DMK given the fan base of Vijay.


Controversy

In July 2021, the Madras High Court imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh on Vijay for failing to pay the entry tax on his Rolls-Royce Ghost, a luxury car he had imported nearly nine years earlier.

The judge’s comments “ In a state like Tamil Nadu, where such actors have become rulers of the state, they are not expected to behave like a 'reel hero',” had become national headlines & had brought negative publicity for the actor.

Upset by the court's remarks, Vijay had approached the Madras High Court in October 2021, seeking to have the comments expunged from the earlier order after which The Madras High Court had expunged the harsh remarks made by the judge against Vijay in this Rolls-Royce tax case.

As per a news report of 2023, Vijay’s current net worth is $56 million (Rs 445 crores). According to reports, the actor earns between Rs 120 and Rs 150 crores per year.
