Navya Haridas Political Career

The story of her political innings is quite dramatic. After getting married to Shobin Shyam who is a mechanical engineer, she moved to Singapore in 2009. Then in 2015, while on a holiday trip in back in Kozhikode, she was ‘handpicked’ for Kozhikode municipal corporation election as a candidate from Karaparamba thanks to her family’s close contact with RSS.

She won by by a narrow margin and became a municipal councilor and is representing this constituency. Her victory in municipal elections in a state like Kerala where the BJP is trying to find its feat is significant as it shows growing influence of the party in the state hitherto dominated either by left or by Congress.

Lost in 2021 Assembly election – She was fielded by BJP in the 2021 Kerala assembly election from Kozhikode (South) assembly seat but came a distant third getting 21% votes.

She is also General Secretary of Mahila Morcha of BJP in the state.
