Bhagwant Singh Mann, nicknamed Jugnu, is the Chief Minister of Punjab and a prominent figure in the Aam Aadmi Party. Before his political career, he gained fame as a Punjabi comedian on The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. Having served twice as a Lok Sabha MP and once as an MLA, Mann has a notable political journey. In the 1990s, he partnered with Jagtar Jaggi and became well-known through various programs while being associated with the Creative Music Company since 1992.
Starting his education at the government school in Cheema village, Bhagwant Mann pursued his studies until the first year of commerce at Shaheed Udham Singh College, Sunam. Transitioning to a different path, he ventured into the world of comedy and the film industry, where he gained fame as a prominent Punjabi comedian.
Bhagwant Mann has been married twice. His first marriage was with Inderpreet Kaur, and they got divorced in 2015. They have two children, a son and a daughter, and currently, Inderpreet Kaur lives with them in America. In 2022, Bhagwant Mann got married for the second time to Gurpreet Kaur, making him the first Chief Minister of Punjab to marry while in office.

Bhagwant Singh Mann, originally a renowned comedian and actor in Punjabi films, ventured into politics in 2011 with Punjab People's Party and later joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He won the MP seat from Sangrur constituency in the 16th and 17th Lok Sabha elections. In 2017, Mann contested the assembly elections from Jalalabad but lost. However, he secured victory in the 2022 assembly elections from Dhuri.
Initially unsuccessful in the 2012 Lehra assembly elections with Punjab People's Party, Mann later joined AAP. He triumphed in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Sangrur with a significant margin. In 2019, he retained the seat with a victory margin exceeding one lakh votes.
Mann briefly served as the president of AAP's Punjab unit in 2017 but resigned following Arvind Kejriwal's apology in a defamation case against Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia. In the 2022 Punjab Assembly Elections, AAP secured 92 out of 117 seats, making Bhagwant Mann the Chief Minister of Punjab, a position he currently holds as the 17th Chief Minister of the state.
2011- Bhagwant Mann joined the People’s Party of Punjab, marking his entry into politics.
2014- He left the Punjab People’s Party, joined the Aam Aadmi Party, and later won the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat as its candidate.
2012- Despite the contesting from the Lehragaga in the Punjab Assembly elections, Mann did not secure a victory.
2014- Bhagwant Mann not only became an Aam Aadmi Party member but also took on multiple roles in Lok Sabha committees.
2019- He successfully retained his MP status by winning again from the Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency.
2022- He is declared the Chief Ministerial candidate, Bhagwant Mann triumphed in the Dhuri Assembly seat, leading the Aam Aadmi Party to a significant victory.
2022- On March 16, 2022, Bhagwant Mann was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Punjab and currently holds the position.
Bhagwant Singh Mann became the Chief Minister of Punjab on March 16, 2022. He made history by being the first to end VIP privileges, removing police security from 122 former MLAs and ministers. In his initial cabinet meeting, he filled 25,000 vacant positions and made 35,000 contract employees permanent. Mann also took significant actions in education, agriculture, transport, electricity, and health, benefiting the public.
Shaheed Udham Singh Government College, Sunam, Patiala, two gold medals for Punjab University, runs 'Lok Lahar Foundation' for physically challenged children due to groundwater pollution in the border areas of Punjab. Apart from this, he has been honoured with many awards in the field of comedy.
According to the election affidavit of the year 2022 assembly, his total assets are Rs 1.97 crore; In which he has net assets of Rs 1.67 crore and debt of Rs 30.36 lakh. There has been an increase in his wealth as compared to 2019.
