Such are the ups and downs in politics that Delhi’s former CM Arvind Kejriwal who is much junior in politics to CM- designate of Jammu & Kashmir Omar Abdullah has now more experience in governing a UT than Abdullah.
NCs Omar Abdullah who had been the CM during 2009-2014 has been a union minister in past and has vast experience in electoral politics. But it will be for the first time that he will be helming the elected government of a half state as J& K is now being called.
On Sunday Kejriwal who is remembered for his frequent faceoffs with the Lt Governor of Delhi during his three stints as the CM of Delhi was in Doda ( J&k). During a rally there, Kejriwal said “Like Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir have also been made a half state, all power has been given to the Lieutenant Governor. I would like to tell Omar Abdullah that if you face any problem in working, ask me, I know how to run Delhi”.
AAP may not have been able to earn voter’s support in Haryana but was able to cut the ice with the voters of Doda and party won it’s first seat ever in Jammu & Kashmir where Mehraj Malik defeated BJP’s Gajay Singh Rana.
The party has given its support to the NC led government and has submitted a letter to this effect to Lt Governor Manoj Sinha.
If fortune favours, then it’s lone MLA may find himself a ministerial berth if NC accommodates allies and friends in the government. Though NC doesn’t needs any support from AAP as it has already been supported by 4 Independent MLAs and was into an agreement with Cong.
But both AAP & NC may soon become brothers in arms as after abrogation of article 370 and the status to J & K reduced that to a UT, just like Delhi model, Lt governor will be calling the shots and most of the important decisions will be routed through him .
In such cases, either Abdullah who is a third generation politician and third member of his family to ‘rule’the state and had free run as the CM will now have to fall in line or may adopt a stance against LG. In such circumstances ‘veteran ‘of UT politics Kejriwal may surely become a guiding friend.
