Just as the mythical Samudra Manthan led to the emergence of Amrit (nectar), the Congress party in Rajasthan appears to be undergoing its own churning—one that is bringing forth a new generation of energetic, grounded leaders.
At just 25 years old, Sanjana Jatav has emerged as one of the youngest Members of Parliament in the country, following her impressive victory from the Bharatpur Lok Sabha seat in Rajasthan. Representing the Indian National Congress, she defeated BJP’s Ramswaroop Koli by a significant margin of 51,983 votes—making a bold entry into national politics and capturing attention as a fresh and dynamic face in the party.
Sanjana Jatav belongs to the Dalit community and now holds the distinction of being one of the youngest MPs elected to the 18th Lok Sabha. She graduated in 2019 from Maharaja Surajmal Brij University. Married to Captain Singh, a police constable serving in Rajasthan, Sanjana Jatav symbolizes a new generation of leaders—grounded, aspirational, and determined to bring change.
Jatav is an inspiration for young leaders, especially women who want to make it big in political and social sphere.
But she is not alone in the galaxy of young aspiring leaders of Rajasthan Congress, there are other leaders who have also impressed everyone including their political opponents.
Another strong and promising female face in Rajasthan Congress is Indira Meena, the sitting MLA from Bamanwas. With two consecutive wins and a decade-long association with the party, she continues to rise steadily in state politics.
She first entered the electoral arena in 2013 as an independent candidate from Bamanwas. However, she later extended her support to the official Congress candidate. In the 2018 elections, the Congress party fielded her as its official nominee, and she won. She was re-elected in 2023, marking her second consecutive term as MLA.
Indira Meena has been actively associated with the Congress Party since 2008. She began her political journey as the District General Secretary of the Youth Congress.
Vikas Choudhary, MLA from Kishangarh comes in this list. A popular face among the youth and others , Choudhary left BJP just before the assembly elections in 2023. After the BJP fielded MP & now union minister Bhagirath Choudhary from Kishangarh. Vikas Choudhary announced his decision to contest independently, effectively rebelling against the party. In response to being denied a ticket, Vikas Choudhary switched sides and joined the Congress, delivering a significant blow to the BJP. After his decisive victory, Vikas Choudhary has become one of the most promising faces of Rajasthan Congress.
Congress Churu MP Rahul Kaswan
Similar is the case of Churu MP Rahul Kaswan, A senior parliamentarian Kaswan too left the BJP after he was denied lok sabha ticket by the party, Kaswan joined Congress party and today is speeches and performance in the lok sabha are lauded by BJP leaders too and often it is said that BJP made a mistake by not giving him the ticket.
Apart from Jatav & Meena, there are many other promising women leaders in Rajasthan, one of such young turk is Divya Maderna. One of the most prominent faces of Rajasthan Congress, former MLA from Osian, Divya Maderna is known for her fiery speeches and carrying the attitude of her grandfather late Parasram Maderna. She walked alongside Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat jodo yatra and despite losing election this time, she is still a force to recokon with.
Entering this exclusive cub of promising leaders is Congress leader Abhishek Choudhary who rose from the level of student politics and became a formidable challenge to Col Rajyavardhan Rathore in Jhotwara assembly during the assembly elections of 2023. Young leader Abhishek Choudhary, 33, contested his first election this year. Making his electoral debut on a Congress ticket, he entered the political fray with fresh energy and determination and gave some tough moments to BJP supporters during the counting because of sizeable support he got from Jhotwara assembly constituency.
Ashok Chandna, born in 1984, in Nainwa, Bundi, is a three-time MLA from the Hindoli constituency & is one of the most talked about leaders in Rajasthan. He began his political journey in 2009 as a general Congress worker and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the President of the Rajasthan Youth Congress in 2013. Chandna also served as the minister in previous government of Ashok Gehlot.
Young leaders like Vinod Gothwal, Shikha Meel, Abhimanyu Poonia, (All MLAs) Lalit Yadav, and Anil Chopra are all glowing faces of the Congress youth brigade in Rajasthan—leaders with strong grassroots connect who are emerging as dynamic voices of change and representation.
Last but not least, another promising face in Rajasthan Congress is Vinod Jakhar, the current President of the Rajasthan NSUI. Under his leadership, the organization recently launched the 'Nasha Chhodo, Jeevan Jodo Yatra'—a statewide campaign aimed at steering the youth away from substance abuse and guiding them toward education, sports, and a healthier lifestyle. This initiative received good response from the public including large sections of the society.
These young faces—whether in Parliament, state assemblies, or organizational roles—reflect a powerful shift in the party’s approach and connect with the aspirations of the youth. With their fresh perspectives, strong grassroots presence, and unwavering commitment to public service, they are not only redefining the Congress narrative in Rajasthan but also shaping the future of the state's politics.
