While the election analyst and media are usually focused on the performances of larger parties in the election and centered around their campaigns, there are several lesser known parties who have been fighting the elections in our country’s vibrant democracy.

In the upcoming Delhi elections too, there are several such parties which have been holding the torch of democracy.

Right to Recall party

One of such parties which has been constantly fighting elections is Right to Recall party. The party is founded by Rahul Mehta who is the son of late Chimabhai Mehta from Gujarat. Chimanbhai Mehta was a parliamentarian and also served as union minister of state for HRD btweeen 1989- 1990. Rahul Mehta founded this party in 2018.

Since last few years, his party has been trying luck in Delhi and Gujarat without any electoral success. Mehta fought the loksabha elections in 2024 from Gandhinagar lok sabha contituency but lost.

In Delhi, his party fought on 4 seats in 2020 assembly elections including New Delhi where they had put up a candidate against Arvind Kejriwal.

This time too, party has fielded Santosh Kumar from New Delhi which is already seeing an intense contest between Arvind Kejriwal, Sandeep Dixit of Congress and BJP’s Parvesh Verma.

In 2020, party contested on 4 seats and secured 272 votes in total. Last year, in 2024, party contested the parliamentary elections on 33 seats across the state and got 58 024 votes and 0.1 % of valid votes.
